Moringa

It is a deciduous tree belonging to the Moringaceae family. It consists of water, fiber, ash, calcium, phosphorus, iron, vitamin A, niacin, ascorbic acid, copper, iodine, palmitic acid, stearic acid, behenic acid, oleic acid, myristic acid, lignoceric acid, protein, B vitamins, vitamin E, potassium, selenium, magnesium, zinc, tryptophan, phytoestrogens, pectin, methionine, cystine, and others. Ayurveda associates this herb with the treatment and prevention of around 300 diseases.

 

It is also known by the following names:

Drumstick tree, Horseradish tree, Miracle tree, Ben, Marango, Moringa oleifera, Drumstick.

 

 Some of its properties are:

  • Astringent: Promotes wound healing.

  • Depurative: Due to its amount of phytonutrients that help cleanse the body of toxins.

  • Digestive: Because of its fiber content that improves digestive processes.

  • Diuretic: Thanks to its potassium content that eliminates sodium and excess fluids through urination.

  • Emmenagogue: Stimulates menstruation.

  • Expectorant: Helps expel mucus retained in the lungs.
