It is a plant from the Zingiberaceae family, with a subterranean stem that is a horizontal rhizome highly valued for its aroma and spicy flavor. This herb is one of the most widely used natural alternatives due to its medicinal properties and applications in various pathologies. It is commonly used for dizziness and nausea. It consists of resins, gingerol, shogaol, zingerone, pectin, starch, sugars, mucilages, carbohydrates, amino acids, organic acids, fiber, vitamin C, niacin, minerals, flavonoids, oxalic acid, and curcumin. Its most common therapeutic application is the powdered root.
