Aloe is a perennial plant belonging to the Xanthorrhoeaceae family. It is a stemless shrub, meaning its short stem is covered by leaves and can reach up to 30 cm in height. It is composed of anthraquinone derivatives, anthranilic and anthraquinonic compounds, and also contains aloin, chrysophanol, cinnamic acid, and aloemodin. It has resins, substances with hormonal activity, bitter principles, and essential oils. It is rich in water, mineral materials such as calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, zinc, and copper, as well as acetic and p-coumaric acids, mucilage, saponins, phytosterols, mucopolysaccharides, plant hormones, enzymes, and amino acids.
It is also known by the following names:
Acíbar, Aloe, Aloe africana, Aloe Barbadensis, Aloe Curazao, Aloe de Barbados, Aloe vulgar, Sábila, Zábila.

Due to the effect of emolina, emodin, and aloin.

Due to the amount of saponins and anthraquinone.
Anti-ulcer:
Due to the presence of mucilages or mucopolysaccharides that soothe the gastric mucosa.

Due to the presence of mucilages and tannins that help in tissue regeneration.
